Something about US ...

"Our story begins with our estate on the border between Liguria and Tuscany: 8 hectares on top of the Caprione peninsula, 900 meters from the Gulf of Poets and 350 meters above sea level. Here we have created an accommodation facility overlooking three splendid vineyards From these grapes (organically grown) we produce and bottle our "Margot" and "Margottino" wines in our small underground cellar

How was Pian della Chiesa born?

The Pian della Chiesa Agricultural Company was born in 2007 and has progressively developed over the years. After a hectic life in London until 2005, we decided to opt for a more natural lifestyle. We bought, in the middle of the Montemarcello Natural Park, a property with rural houses scattered all around. These lands were previously cultivated a vineyard and orchard but were abandoned after the Second World War. It was hard work but two beautiful vineyards grew both surrounded by over 200 olive trees and majestic oaks.

Three adjectives to define
Pian della Chiesa?

Organic, refined and intense.

The  wine you are most attached to?

The Margot was immediately a great satisfaction. The vinification includes an initial period of contact with the skins at low temperatures to facilitate the extraction of the aromatic components of the grapes, then at higher temperatures, around 28 degrees, to extract tannins and color. The wine remains on the skins for about 14 days until the end of the alcoholic fermentation. Then follows the malolactic fermentation. These two fermentations take place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature (using only natural yeasts).

Projects for the future?

We will certainly continue to expand and improve. Our vineyards today extend over 8000 square meters and we want to expand. In 2015 we completed the construction of a small, beautiful and efficient underground cellar where we fully carry out the entire winemaking and bottling process.
